Question:
How much fiber should one have in their daily diet? What kinds of food
are high in fiber? I am 14 months post op and I have been so consumed with getting enough protein, that I havent gotten enough of anything else..so after horrible bouts of constipation, I finally have figured out why..any suggestion would be greatly appreciated..also how can I jumpstart this weight loss again? I still have 50lbs to lose and I keep reading that after 15 months its almost impossible..is this true?? Thanks so much — tylerswife (posted on March 25, 2003)

Hi Rebecca, I have had constipation problems as well. My gastroenterologist
suggested taking Citracel clear (tastes better) or benefiber. Also, I have
been eating a cereal called KASHI GO LEAN. It comes in a few different
varieties- but they are all high fiber (about 7 grams) and actually have
protein as well. I'm not sure about the recommended daily amount, though,
sorry!
<p>Also, I have heard of many people jumpstarting their weight loss
by two different things. First, try increasing your protein and exercising
one more day a week. Or even changing up your routine- sometimes our bodies
get used to things and need change, so that can help weight loss. Second,
go on a liquid diet for 2 weeks, the same kind we had to do early post-op.
I've heard some success stories with that. I heard our window of
opportunity is 18 months, so according to that you still have a few months
to go. Even if that passes, it isn't impossible to lose after that.
Goodluck to you!
