Question:
Does anyone have one of those Ron Popeil rotisserie oven things?
Does anyone have one of the rotisserie oven things and can you tell me how it cooks for you? I want to know if it really does make the meats prepared in it very juicy? Whenever I eat meats cooked in dry heat (oven), they stick in my pouch...so I am looking for something to keep the meat juicy...I don't want to have to use gravy or some other 'dressing' all the time...it adds extra fat and calories that I don't really want in my diet. thanks AMOS Have a Sparkling Day!!! ~CAE~ — Mustang (posted on November 24, 2002)

My sister has one and it's great. Of course anything will dry out if it's
cooked too long. I use my George Foreman grill for most things I cook.

We have a rotisserie that we used to cook chicken in. We haven't used it
since my surgery though. I can tell you that the rotisserie chickens that
we get from the grocery store deli are really moist and easy for me to eat.
I hate dark meat so I only eat breast meat and that's usually the driest
but not with rotisserie chicken. I think it should work for you.
Sometimes I cook chicken in the oven breast side down in a cast iron
skillet with some broth and lite Italian dressing and other seasonings with
foil over the top. It seems to stay moist that way.

Hi, we have the rotissere that you are speaking of and we love it! It
really does make moist chicken, turkey, steak and wonderful pork loin
roasts! I love to fix things in it because it is so easy. I was skeptical
at first but compared to baking it is wonderful. I will be making my
holiday turkey in it and use it about 1 time a week for other things.
Follow the directions on cooking time - use a little seasoning on the
outside - perfect.
Have a great day!

Hi Christine... I have had one about 6 months and I absolutely love it.
I've cooked chicken (various ways), turkey, fish, hot dogs, hamburgers,
meat loaf, pork, rib roasts, you name it. Meats are very juicy, fat drains
off and the food is so tasty. I also just purchased a Rotisserie Cookbook
from The Good Cook Book Club and it even has vegetable/fruits/desserts,
etc. in it. If I do want a gravy, I use low fat beef or chicken broth to
make it. I guarantee you will love it. A friend got the foreman one and
another another brand and they love my Showime the best. I'm almost ready
now to buy the new extra large one for family events. That one does a 24#
turkey. Enjoy!

I have one and I think that it is great. I think that it lets all the fat
drip off and I really like that. I havent tried it post op because solid
meat gives me problems but I will try it here soon.

I think what's even better than that is when you cook it in those oven bags
(like Reynold's)--falls off the bone!
