Question:
Has anyone had surgery or is currently awaiting surgery by Dr. McCarty in Dallas?
I am scheduled to attend a seminar with Dr. McCarty. I would love to hear from anyone who has had surgery with him. What can I expect? any tips on being prepared with paperwork to help the process go a little faster and smoother? Thanks!!! — Michelle U. (posted on January 13, 2002)

I had my surgery wDr. McCarty in August. So far, I am down 67 lbs. He is
a wonderful surgeon and his office staff is great. You will be thoroughly
happy with him. Also, you need to join the BaylorWLS support group, which
consist of all of his patients. If you need more info, just let me know.
Good Luck!

I haven't had surgery w/Dr M but w/his partner Dr.Kuhn.Both are not only
talented surgeons, but just great people, you can tell they really do care
for their patients and give anything they can before and after surgery to
help make this journey a successful one.As far as speeding up the
process, you fill out paperwork at the seminar which their asst. Chris(also
a wonderful person) will send out for approval, what can do is talk w/your
ins,ask what type of info they require for approval on this type of
surgery, and get a correct address to send in a pre-determination request
to,everything goes by mail,no faxes. Then all you can do is wait, once you
get an approval then you can schedule a consultation w/one of the
surgeons,and they'll give u a surhery date then,generally about 1 1/2
months after your consultation. If your ins doesn't pay 100% of all covered
procedures then you will to come up w/a deposit about 2 weeks before
surgery, for the cost of whichever procedure u go w/open or lap.My ins pays
80% and I pay 20% of all covered procedures,my deposit was about
$1500.00.So just incase you don't already know that is something to get
straight w/your ins co also.Good luck on your journey and believe me you
have made the best choice of surgeons in the DFW area! Jennifer
