Question:
Can anyone tell me if they had a thryoid imbalance before surgery?
I'm 2 days preop (Monday 8/13) and my surgeon just put my surgery on hold because of a dam thyroid imbalance. I've been taking Synthroid for over 15 years and have been regulated just fine. About 2 weeks ago I received a new RX through the mail and they sent me a generic equivilent that is a different size and shape than the old pills. If anyone has had this happen, can you tell me how long it took to get regulated again so I can have the surgery. I am SOOO READY for the surgery, I just cried! Any help or encouragement would be appreciated. Thanks. — danhait (posted on August 12, 2001)

I've also been on .3 Synthroid for years. I had VGB four months ago and
have lost over 60 pounds. Two weeks ago, I was retested and my thyroid was
lowered to .25.. so hopefully, with more weight loss, I'll be able to
reduce the medication also.

Hi Dan, I too have a thyroid disease -- hypothyroidism and take Levoxyl. I
have heard of WLS being put on hold because of problem thyroid. Depends on
the type of thyroid disease and its severity. Best of luck on your journey.
