Question:
How long after having a baby are you supposed to wait
to have the surgery done. I have been looking into the surgery for about a year, but 5 months ago I got pregnant. I really want to have the surgery and plan on breastfeeding for about a year after the baby is born. Would a year be long enough to wait to have the surgery? — Leslie F. (posted on June 12, 2001)

I have an acquaintance who is planning on having the surgery two months
after she gives birth. She was told to be extra careful with her
supplement-taking if she plans to breastfeed. I also understand that the
VBG is less of an issue when combined with breastfeeding than the
malabsorptive procedures, but of course, which surgery is going to be best
for you overall is the one you should go with.

I had a baby boy 3-24-01 and had WLS 5-11-01 and i'm doing just fine but I
decided against breatfeeding.
