Question:
Do MOST post ops NEED surgery for sagging skin or does it shrink???
I am 29 years old and weigh about 345 to 350. I am 5'3" and im worried about MORE extensive surgeries after WLS. Am i young enough that i have a good chance not to need it?? i do have alot of weight in my middle. — Tracy L. (posted on September 18, 2000)

I have heard the best candidates for not needing reconstructive surgery are
those in their early 20's and those that have not been obese all their
lives, that have gained the weight as an adult. But then again, I've heard
others that don't fit that profile that haven't needed it. I don't think
we really know until we reach our goal weight. Good Luck.

Ahhh to be young again...Its a 50-50 chance that you will need to remove. I
am all stomach too, and 35 years old so I am planning for some removal.
Your skin could very well bounce back for you. You may want to Tuck in a
few years but you prob. won't need to go through that unless you just want
to. Exercise also can help tone up the skin. Good luck...Trina

Thanks everyone for responing to my question...after posting i realized
this was a very redundant question but i am hoping maybe i will get some
NEW info anyhow....The excess skin will not deter me from weight loss
surgery but i have been a BIG GAL for a very long time and i would love
fate to be on my side(this ONE time fate could gimmie a break!!) and bless
me with rubber-band skin...not the flappy's. Good luck and thanks to all
the knowledge on this site.
