Question:
How long ofr a surgery date?I am using Dr. John Alexander in Dallas TX....

I have jumped through all the hoops that I have been asked to and STILL no word! I even went and got the damned tests on my own and some MORE that I thought were needed...so Medicare would pay for this and STILL NO SURGERY DATE!! It has been 2 weeks since the last of the reports were sent in to this doctor and I call and get this..."he is not in the office", "The nurse is not here today", " haven't gotten a chance to talk to him" "Your files are in the INbox for us to go over", "He has been out of town"...when is enough ENOUGH? I feel like screaming that!!! For them, it is a job, for me...at 430 pounds, it is MY LIFE! I hurt all the time, I can't breathe, I can't move, I have CONSTANT joint pain, I can barely keep up my own hygiene! I guess if I screamed at them, that would not be beneficial....but give me some hope...how long does it usually take. Anyone out there use Dr. Alexander? Did they get the same treatment? Ever find out WHY they treat you like this? Any suggestions on how to handle this? HELP! Thanks....    — [Anonymous] (posted on August 10, 2000)

Have you considered going to the office in person? Maybe then they will see you as a person and not as a name on a file. I know that you shouldn't have to do this, but would sure beat playing "Phone Tag". Good Luck jumping through the Hoops! Sending Warm Calming Skinny thoughts your way:) ttfn

Hi! I know how you feel. I used Dr. Alexander and know a little about what is going on. When I first went for my initial his assistant had just started. When I went back a couple of weeks later I found out she only worked one day. Then they moved their office and I had to wait to get a date because of that. I tried to be patient though and I am glad I did. Dr. Alexander is very nice and so is his new assistant. He had a receptionist that just quit and he is now hiring or has hired a new one. He also has a support group now on line. I cannot remember the address right now but I will let everyone know asap. There is going to be a meeting at the Olive Garden in Grapevine on the 19th of Aug. at 5:30pm. It is for pre and post op so if you have any questions maybe they can be answered there. I will update you on that too. Hang in there... I also have medicare and it has paid most of the bills. Good luck and God bless. Marilyn Hull
