Question:
Can I still take my sleeping pills? I am 4 1/2 wks post-op.

I previously took "ambien" for sleeping problems prior to my surgery. I want to know if I can swallow a pill now without it becoming lodged or a problem. The pills are pretty small. Maybe I can crush it and take it with water?    — rosemary I. (posted on May 31, 2000)

My surgion stated after the swelling has gone down after a couple of weeks that there would be no problems taking pills again. I have been taking my Tylenol PM since the first week without any problems.Good Luck!

I think you should ask your physican if you can take your sleeping pills. Different people react different to their medications. Some may can swallow some may not.

Hi Rosemary! I take zoloft for depression, it is also a small pill. I crushed it up for a week after surgery but after that I have swallowed it with no problem. I had Open RNY and I am now 7 weeks post op... 46 lbs gone forever! Best of luck to you! Kim

I take my Ambian without any trouble. I do have to crush a couple of other bigger meds and put them all in applesauce.
