Can I still take my sleeping pills? I am 4 1/2 wks post-op.

I previously took "ambien" for sleeping problems prior to my surgery. I want to know if I can swallow a pill now without it becoming lodged or a problem. The pills are pretty small. Maybe I can crush it and take it with water?
