Question:
ACHALASIA: anyone have this?
I have recently been diagnosed with achalasia. In essence, my esophagus does not work. I have trouble swallowing. The weird thing is, my lower esophageal sphincter is wide open, whereas usually it is very tight with most achalasia patients. Therefore, I have bad acid reflux which has not been resolved in spite of medications and even a revision RNY. I would be interested in hearing from anyone with similar issues, please email me at [email protected] — Lisa P. (posted on September 15, 2004)

My problem is similar, I had an endoscope about 10 years ago and he said I
had a couple "dead areas" in my esogophus...where there wasnt and
paristolic movement, but felt the reflux was causing the damage, so I was
put on prevacid Rx to help heal it. Maybe thats why I have never vomited.
good luck
