Question:
I cannot lose weight after surgery
I had surgery in 2003. My doctor only did a intsetnal bypass and he did not redo my stomach. Now I only lost 31 pounds and still 210 pounds. They sent me to Weight Watchers which did nothing, to a dietian, no good nothing is working and I am about to lose my mind. What can I do? Is there more surgery that can help?? Is there anything that can help? I have tried eating apples before meals, carb blockers, diet pills. I can't excersize because I had a small stroke in May of 2003 and unable to walk good. Please someone help me. — Linda P. (posted on September 9, 2003)

WHy did surgery not work? Did you eat your way thru your pouch? Did your
staples burst, is your opening too large? Did you get a GI? We need a
little more info?

I have never heard of a surgeon only bypassing the intestine and not
surgically reducing your stomach size. Was there a medical reason why he
couldn't/wouldn't do that?

Linda, there has to be a medical reason why the surgeon only bypassed the
intestines. I would demand that the surgeon explain what he/she did and
why. Was your stomach stapling still intact and that's why the intestines
were bypassed? Anyhow, contact your physician and a nutritionist. Mary P.

Please keep us updated. My daughter had a full RNY on July 31, 2003. She
has only lost 15 lbs. and nothing the last 3 weeks. I'm afraid it's not
working for her.
