Question:
does anyone have BCBSof GA PPO
I am awaiting approval from BCBS OF GA PPO.MY info. was sent but they replied wanting TSH test. I sent that immediately and was told by surgeons office that all my info had to be sent again and I was starting all over. Has anyone dealt with this company before? — loisph (posted on August 26, 2003)

Hey Lois,
I have BCBS of GA POS// I am having a problem with them also.. I had
all my required info and the doc's office sent it a few weeks ago.. they
kicked back ALL the ones from BCBS stating they wanted "More
Info"... in my case they want proof of COMMERCIAL diets such as weight
watchers... I can't provide this and am now looking at maybe being forced
by them to join WW for 6 months to meet the "requirements" even
tho I have medical records documenting Dr supervised attempts. I guess
they are cracking down in every way possible. I read last nite thru 6
pages in the Insurer's section of this site of BCBS and most of them were
"Approved with first letter sent" and 2 people at my work who
already had BCBS had their surg. last year with no problem whatsoever. I
don't understand it and am considering filing a complaint with the Ins.
Comm. of GA... (I already contacted them and have the paperwork to do
so)... I would recommend calling BC and getting a customer service
supervisor on the phone, or even better get someone from the precert dept
on the phone, which I was able to do last week but today could not. Today
a very nice CS supervisor told me exactly what was required so at least now
I have an idea what I am up against... This is so hard when we see others
get approved effortlessly.. I hope it works out for you, you just have to
call them as many times as it takes till you get an answer.

I THINK I read on here somewhere where someone got their approval with
attorney help on appeal based on the insurance company requiring diet
compliance they weren't willing to cover the expense of. (or some such.)
You might check out the library, or if it continues maybe consult an
attorney? Just a suggestion. I think also a call to your insurance
commission would be a good idea. I mean we ALL have done WWs &
everything else under the sun but that doesn't mean we have receipts. I
mean think of all the books you bought or plans in magazines you've done.
How many receipts do any of you have for that stuff?? They are asking for
something that almost any of us would choke on trying to "prove".
