Question:
What did you use for a good source of protein??
I was just wondering what some have used for protein after surgery. I'm getting things ready, and would like some suggestions. I was told I could use CIB sugar free, but someone said it's not a good source due to it being mixed with milk. I would like something that truely tastes good, seeing it's basically what you live on post op. I would just like to know what others used and would recomend, thankyou... — Lynne W. If you don't have any problems with milk I used CIB with a third cup of dry
milk and a scoop of non flavored protein powder I found at walgreens(its
for joints and it is a gelatin). Then I mix with 8 0z skim milk and mix(it
takes a while to drink but I just sip on it at work).

PRO-COMPLEX IS WHAT I USE. IT HAS 55G. OF PROTEIN, AND YOU CAN'T GET THAT
HIGH ANYWHERE! ALSO, THERE IS A DRINK IN BOTTLES CALLED ISOPURE- IT HAS
44G. PROTEIN, BOTH THE ABOVE HAVE NO SUGAR OR ASPERTAME, NO CARBS, ETC. CAN
BE FOUND IN HEALTH FOOD STORES. PRO COMPLEX IS A POWDER THAT MIXES EASILY,
AND I FLAVOR IT WITH VARIOUS THINGS. HOPE I CAN HELP YOU!

Hi, I used Body Fortress chocolate whey protein powder from Vitamin World.
I mixed 2 scoops with 10 of skim milk in a Tupperware shaker. The 2
scoops have 34 g of protein. I don't have a problem with milk so I was ok.
Also, cottage cheese, refried beans with shredded cheese melted over it,
boca burgers a little later on with cheese melted on it. Another thing I
like is Polly-O Lite mozzerella string cheese. Each piece has 8g of
protein and only 60 calories.

Whatever kind you choose make sure you divide up your protein grams, the
body can only absorb about 30 grams per meal or drink.

What is your post-op plan like? Are you talking protein drinks or real
food? When can you start real food? I have some good food suggestions but
need to know what you are looking for.
