Question:
I was recently approved for surgery but have ?
I recieved a phone call saying that I was approved and giving a surgery date. My question is after the drs. office calls due you recieve something from your ins co. saying how much is your portion or does that come after your surgery with the bill. The reason why I'm asking is because Ive left a relationship and I don't want my ex to get the letter (if any). So basically my question is do you get anything in writing from the ins. co even if you know that youre approved already because the dr. sent the infor to the company and it came back approved. — TCP1918 B. I recieved a letter of approval from my insurance company in the mail about
a week after I got the verbal approval from them. Then the next day I got
an approval for 4 days of hospital admitance.

I never actually received anything from my insurance company. However I
never sent anything to them personally. It was all done through my
surgeon's office. The insurance gave the surgeon's office the approval to
perform the surgery...just as they would for any other surgery.

I was on the phone with my ins. when they approved me. However I did
receive a formal letter afterwards, about a week later telling me how many
days I was approved for and the Doc's name and hosp. name and address. As
for the cost I went back to the Doc's office and they said that I pretty
much have to wait till my surgery to find out how much is covered because
they have no way of knowing beforehand. I thought this was strange anf
figured that they could find out if they wanted to. I think it depends on
the ins co. Good Lock and God speed!

I had called my insurance co and got a verbal approval, and I recieved a
letter of approval saying they would cover 100% provided it was at an in
network hospital, and the doctor was a participating provider. The
insurance co. alos called my surgeons office and gave a verbal to them,
also. My husband is the policy holder, and everything has always come in
his name , but the letter/envelope was addressed to me personaly this time.

Yes I got a letter, even tho my surgeons office did all the work and I had
called and knew they had approved me before the letter came. I'd go get a
new post box if you don't want him to see the letter. One in your name
only. Do that asap. Jamie

Yes,I received a letter from Aetna with approval for surgery. It had the
surgeon's name, the date of surgery and the hospital where the surgery
would be. This letter came a week or two after the surgeon's office gave
me my verbal approval.

I suggest you call the insurance company and put in a change of address.
Also notify the Dr's office. Ask the insurance company what your coverage
is and what will be your portion. They won't be able to tell you until the
bill is sent to them, but they can tell you what your coverage is and if
you owe a deductible and what your maximum out of pocket amount is, if any.
