Question:
Has anyone had a revision due to their pouch being to large?
I had surgery in 6/2001 with a starting weight of 280 lbs. My initial pouch size was 40cc's w/a intestinal bypass of 100 cm. I now weigh 230 pounds, having regained 30. So, in total, I only lost 80 pounds. My new surgeon states that my pouch was too large, and that the standard pouch size is 15-20 cc's. Has anyone been approved for a revision with similar circumstances such as mine? Thanks! — ellton (posted on December 6, 2002)

Hello, I had an open rny in 6/01. I started at 313.5. I'm 5'2.I lost weight
real slow... Lost the first 80 ponds in 11 months. I have not lost another
pound since. I currently weigh 227.I believe my pouch is too large also..
My medical report says it is between 20 - 30 cc. I don't think so.. I can
really eat..I also didn't see in my report whether or not i was transected
or not..Dr. office said they didn't know. They keep refering me to the
nutritionist.. That obviously is not working .. I just asked my pcp for a
referral to go back and either have it checked for leakage or something or
maybe i need a revision.. Something isn't right.. I exercise 7 days a
week. Well interested in seeing what other posters have to say.. good luck

Maybe you should have yourself checked, I have a 60cc pouch and a distal
bypass(175CM, BYPASS, i THINK),I am a year out on the 10th and have lost
111 lbs so far..I lose slowly, in two months I have bounced down to 167
then go all the way up to 177 and everything in between. But I have not
stopped losing yet and can eat alot more than most, but way less that
before. I dont know what standard size is, but I still lose with a 60cc
pouch..best wishes
