Question:
I have severe abdominal pain
I have severe right side abdominal pain, I do not have a gallbladder, I have elevated liver enzymes and the docs say what is a fatty liver ( I had this pre op) and the spot they see on a CT Scan is the same size. My pcp is puzzled saying that the spot should have shrunk if it were indeed fat and I've lost about 85 lbs. Now getting pain on the left. I've had an upper GI showing slow draining of my pouch, the stoma seems smaller than my last one 4 months ago but had a endoscopy for ballooning and the doc said when he got in there it looked okay. Now I've started to have seizures. Anyone else have any kind of wierd problems. Please reply to my email at [email protected] if you can searching for responses here daily can be difficult since there are so many questions to filter through. I appreciate any help or advice. Also looking for suggestions on a PCP(internist) in the Chicagoland area that is familiar with caring for post op patients and our unique needs. Prefer a female but will consider a male doc. — Sara A. (posted on October 12, 2002)

Have you been tested for hepatitis? I would imagine you have with the
elevated liver enyzmes. What type of "seizures" are you
referring to? If they are epileptic they could be due to a metabolic
imbalance from poor liver function. Your doc needs to have this checked
out mucho pronto!!

Hi there, I am 9wks post op and this past week have had three days of
terrible right lower quadrant pain around where my right ovary would be
plus my back has been killing me for three weeks. They drew my blood and
did a urinalysis and my bilirubin came back positive--which deals with my
liver. They put me on Cipro and the pain is better--they think I may have
had a kidney or bladder infection although I showed no other signs but
some lab work is still pending--I should know tomorrow what's really up.
You should know, as I have just learned, that your appendix can go bad
after this surgery and the pain would be right where we have it. I am just
praying it's not my appendix--I can't go through another surgery ever
again. Keep us updated.

I had the same problem, infact I still get it. Mine was GAS it caused me
all kinds of pain. I never thought GAS would do that to me. Well I was
wrong. You can try Generic Gas Relief gel pills for about $1.97 at any
store. They wont hurt you if that is not it, but I would check with your
doctor before you do anything.

I posted this question, I have been tested for hepatitis A, B, C all
negative. I am 15 months post op which is why my former PCP thinks if I
had fatty liver it should have improved some. I also tried the gas thing,
no luck either. The pain on my left is getting so bad I had to go into the
ER a few days ago. The doc there says it may be due to my 'sleeping'
stomach. Also too much bacteria in the 'ghost' bowel. I just wish I had
some answers. I had a lot of complications post op and they just never
seem to have gone away.
