Question:
I am 6 weeks post op and having severe stomach gas, preventing me from eating.
I am only able to eat a few bites of food before the gas starts pushing it back up my throat. I have taken every prescription and every pill on the market for this problem. Can anyone tell me if this will subside in time or does the doctor have my band too tight? — Diana F. (posted on October 9, 2002)

I had same problem. Thought it would never end. Lasted approx 1 mth. I had
terrible gas pain, passing alot of gas, burping terribly & constantly,
and reflux with alot of acid coming up my esophagus and throat. I used
Beano which did nothing, and finally GasX & Pepcid AC worked well. I
didnt take them both at the same time. Used GasX for the gas pain, and then
when the acid reflux started I took Pepcid. Also walk...do alot of walking
to keep things moving around in there. And use a stool softener if your
bowels are not moving. My surgeon advised me it was all normal and it did
pass.
