Question:
Ever heard of a person's body rejecting internal staples due to metal allergy?
When I wear jewelry (other than gold)it causes a major iritation within a couple of hours. I am scheduled for RNY distal in 12 days and I fear that my body may reject the staples that transect by stomach. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? — DeDe G. (posted on August 25, 2002)

Staples are medical grade titanium. Surgeon said its not a problem. Jen my
wife cant wear even gold earrings but hasnt had a problem. NEVER heard of
anyone reacting to the staples. Relax its NOT a problem...

I have to agree with Bob. I have very sensitive skina nd reacted poorly to
the external nickel staples that were used for my incesion. Stainless steal
was supposed to be used but I don't believe that would have made a
difference for me. Internally the staples are always titanium and I have
never heard of an adverse reaction. Good luck
