Question:
Lemonade making me SICK!!
I'm almost 8 months post-op and I've been a devotee of Crystal Light Pink Lemonade. I've also been drinking Wyler's Lite Pink Lemonade and Country Time Sugar Free Strawberry Lemonade. I've noticed in the past week or so that anytime I drink lemonade - pink or otherwise that my stomach absolutely aches with a pain like a sharp stick in the eye. Has anyone had this happen? What causes it? Is this normal? I LOVE lemonade and hate to imagine my life without it!! ( can do without the chocolate - but I need my lemonade!) PS...I also drink a lot of water, but I do love my lemonade! — Pamela P. (posted on August 12, 2002)

WOW!!! The same thing is happening to me. Crystal light
pink lemonade is making my throat sore and is upsetting my
stomach. I used to just love it and now I can hardly drink
it. I have developed a real love of WATER!!!!!

Dilute it?

HI!!!
I have the same problem!!! I thought it was just me- I add just enough
water to make it still have a little lemon flavor. I have gotten sick twice
off of it before I started adding extra water~ good luck!

That would be my suggestion. Dilute it so that you still get some of the
taste but it isn't so strong.

Yup, same thing happens to me..even at 16 months out...I found that if I
drink alot of water before I have some Crystal Lite Lemonade it helps the
back to the throat irritation and the nausea I get from it. Must be
something to do with the citric acid...I am guessing. ((hugs)) and smiles

Make some hot tea. Add some cream. Then squeeze some lemon into the tea.
The milk will curdle almost immediately. I had this same thing happen to
me, and then I realized that I am drinking a lot of skim milk, eating
cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, etc... I suspect this is the probably what
is happening. That's my theory anyway. I drank 64oz of Country Time SF
Lemonade the other day, and my gut was bubbling, gurgling, and cramping all
day. Then it occurred to me about the cream and lemon in tea (from 7 years
as a bartender). I switched to SF Tang and the problem went away. Never had
this happen pre-op, but then again, I didn't eat as much dairy pre-op
trying to get my protien in. Of course, I could be totally off base too :)
