Question:
Anyone have the LABPAND or ADJUSTABLE BAND covered by insurance?

Please email me if you or anyone you know have had the lab band (adjustable band) procedure done and it was covered by insurance. If so, any paperwork tips? I have Blue Cross HMO. Thank you. Sue    — Susan P. (posted on July 19, 2002)

I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield Federal. They paid 100% for my Lap-Band on 3/25/02. They don't pre-approve anything. They told me that they would cover my surgery if it was "medically necessary". I was 240 lbs and 5'8 1/2" I had several co-morbidities. Asthma, prior bladder surgery, extreme foot pain. They covered it without any fight and now I'm down almost 60 lbs. I have not had a single asthma attack, zero pain in my feet and Ifit into a size 12. Life's good!!!!

alveta at the cori center gave me code numbers to give to my ins co.bcbs mi,ppo and i found they do pay for the lapband i was sooo happy!
