Question:
Voc-Rehab has approved me for surgery but need a surgeon
I have been trying for the past 7 months to have surgery. I have done all the pre-op workup. And was getting ready to schedule surgery when we found out the surgeon dropped his contract with the state. Now we are in a desprate search to find another surgeon in the State of Oklahoma that has a contract with the state??? Can you help me???? — teddybear28_1998 (posted on June 6, 2002)

Click on the "find peers" link above, then click on your state.
Find people whose status is either post op or scheduled for surgery, then
write down their doctors. I'd suggest calling each of them to ask whether
they work w/the state. Good luck!

Doesn't the OVR have a list of contracted providers to assist
you? There must be a resource like that for you. Good luck.
It sounds like you are more than half way there!

Hello, I have also been approved through Oklahoma voc rehab. My surgery is
monday the 10th. I had the same problem you did. I also wrote down every
surgeon from oklahoma like someone suggested. I gave it to my case worker
and i don't think he did anything with it though. My surgeon is Dr. Mason
Jett in okc,ok. He is the only one I know of that is still taking the
states rate of pay for surgery. He only does the VBG. At first this
bothered me but after I spoke with him I felt very confident in the VBG. My
mom had the VBG with Dr.Jett 2 1/2 years ago and has done great, lost
154lbs and is keeping it off. If you have any questions please write me and
I'll help any way I can.

Dr Steve Katsis at surical associates in Tulsa, Ok. He also has a partner:
Dr. Mitchell. I think They do the surgery at St Francis Hospital. I hope
this helps.
