Question:
7 weeks since Psych eval and he hasn't turned in report! I'm losing it!

I had my psych eval on March 5 (7 weeks tomorrow) and the psychiatrist has not turned the report into the surgeon. This is the last thing I need for my case to be submitted to the insurance. I've been calling the surgeon every day - they keep saying "he sent a bunch of reports, but yours was not in with them". I am getting so frustrated, I just don't know what to do! I've left 2 voice mails for surgeon, then spoke to him directly, emailed my surgeon (no response) and call his office daily! I am starting to feel very hopeless as I am in a time crunch to have this done before July at work. Any advice on what I should do would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks.    — Lisa W. Hi Lisa. It sounds to me like you're "bugging" the wrong office. You should be calling the psychiatrists office daily to make sure that that report gets to the surgeons office. And since you've been waiting 7 weeks (unbelievable!), I wouldn't hesitate to come across a LITTLE impatient...if you get my drift!

Have you called your Psychiatrist?? I would start there, he or she is the one that did the test. Best of luck

Thanks for answers so far! Typed wrong - I've left 2 voice mails for PSYCHIATRIST and spoken to him directly once. No one seems to care!

Boy do I understand how you feel. My phych gave me his approval. However my insurance wanted to deny me so they wanted me to see "their boy". Well he pulled the same thing on me as yours is doing. I waited 8 weeks and still would have waited longer. I finally had to call them every 2 or 3 days. It was a risk that it would make it worse, but patience was'nt working. Finally the horse's butt got even anyway as he suggested I see a dietician. #!&$*% I saw one 18 months before the WLS and it did no good! (What a money game they have going). Then I had to wait a month more to see the dietician. Then do what she wanted for another month... blah blah blah it took 9 months to get finally approval. Several months of that wait was because of the physc. I sure understand your pain. There is no need for them to make us wait so long but they don't care. We are just cattle to them anyway.

HI....get a hold of the person in charge if insurance and typing this information. Talk to them.......or just SHOW UP. The time that it has been for you is NOT acceptable. Do not let this keep going this way. It could be mis-placed and they do not want to admit it. Personally find out. Mine too 10 days........there is NO excuse for what they are putting you through.

I agree with all the other posters, but I think you should go even higher. First of all, who paid this guy? Was it you or your insurance co.? If it was your ins. co., all you can do is to keep buggin the shrink. If it was you, then go above him...in other words, see who you would go to to file a complaint against a physician, possible the Division of Consumer Affairs. But, before you do, "nicely" suggest to the psychiatrist that his delay is unacceptable and he seems to be FORCING you to contact them or the AMA or whoever just to get your report in so you can get your surgery date by July. Good luck, and please let us know what happens.
