Question:
I'm 4 months post op and my saliva is foamy!
This morning I ate a little bit of biscuit (2 small bites) I got sick on my stomach and had some vomiting (but only saliva came up). Ever since then, my saliva seems to be foamy and seems to be more present in my mouth. This could be because I've never had the foamy presence. It doesn't look foamy...Anyone ever have this...and could I have messed something up 4 months out? — Pamela P. (posted on April 16, 2002)

Pamela, I too have this. When I checked in with my dr. this past week I
asked about it. He said that since we have no stomach acid our new tummies
process food differently and as a result some have a foamy saliva. I have
been trying to pay attention to see what could be causing this since I
don't always have the foamy saliva. I have noticed that since I don't
"dump", it seems to only occur if I have eaten carbs or something
sugary and it isn't setting well. Don't know that this helps, but for what
its worth. Take care.

Call your surgeon and ask him who he recommends for a EGD. I had this
happen to me for 4 months and now I can eat ANYTHING and have no problem
with foaming or spitting things back up. What you have is a stricture and
is easily repaired. Good Luck.

THat is how I know I am nauseas. I don't really feel sick, but I felt like
I am going to drown in my own spit. At least for the first 6 months or so.
Unlikely anything is messed up. Be kind to your pouch the next few days,
have some hot tea and it shall pass.

The couple of times I vomited from eating wrong, I too had that foamy
feeling in my mouth. Not sure what it was from or why but it went away and
I felt fine. Don't having a craving for what I ate anymore that caused it
though. I learned quick.

Hi! This just happened to me. It started the way it did for you then got
worse. I couldnt keep anything down and I was constantly throwing up mucus.
I was in the hospital 2 times for it and had 2 scopes, lower and upper GI
series and a catscan. They said that it was reflux due to my new stomach.
My surgeon finally recommended Dimetapp and it is finally better and I am
back to normal. Hope this helps! Tracy
