Question:
I'm 7 months post op and down 130 lbs. I can feel a knot under my skin
I can feel a knot under my skin about 1/2 from the top of my incision. It feels like its about the size of a ping pong ball and its only developed over the past 2 months. It doesnt really hurt but it worries me that it is so close to my heart. I've moved 1100 miles from my surgeon and I lost my insurance and my new insurance doesnt start till Feb 1st. If anyone else has had anything similar to this could you please contact me so that I can get some idea of what may be going on. You can email me at [email protected]. Thank you. — Susan B. It sounds like you have a hernia. You need to get to your doctor as soon
as you can to have it checked. I've heard this same description on this
site many times so it obviously happens quite a bit. You don't have to
worry about it too much as you are not the first to have it. Best of luck
to you!

LUCKY YOU! sounds like a hernia, which means the insurance will pay for a
tummy tuck....no problem! Generally if you have an apron of skin it will
cause a hernia from pulling down.

Yep! Like the others have said, it sounds like a hernia. I've got one too.
(13 months post-op Lap RNY) My surgeon says it doesn't have to be fixed
right away as long as it doesn't hurt or get much bigger. He also said that
I was lucky since the insurance will cover a tummy tuck with the hernia
repair. I'll probably have mine done this summer, as I need to finish the
school year. Don't worry too much, but get it checked out by a physician as
soon as possible. Good luck. Maria
