Question:
Any Body for lifers out there?
Hi I was just wondering if anyone follows the Body For Life exercise program? I am pre-op (open rny at the end of January) and looking for an exercise program. I have heard good things but would like to hear from some wls survivors and their expiriences with the program. I have the book and really enjoyed it. Thanks — [Anonymous] (posted on January 4, 2002)

I've got the book. That's about all I can honestly say about Body for
Life. I saw it on Maury Povich, it sounded convincing, I "took the
challenge" and it turned out like every other program I've tried
before WLS...a failure. I stuck to it for about two weeks and then caved.
Good luck.

Hi, I too tried the Body for Life program a few months back. It is a good
program for I think for people that don't have to lose a ton of weight. I
am also pre-op and have a BMI of 54. I was finding out that I wasn't
really losing alot of weight, but building muscle on top of fat which
really isn't what I needed. I found out that the best exercise program for
me is to do cardiovascular for 30 min 3-4 times a week. I will probably
try the Body for Life again once I am post-op and quite a few pounds
lighter to firm up the flab. Good luck in whatever route you chose.

I have followed this program from about 6 months post-op to the present. I
also have a friend (never Morbidly Obese) who has done really well on BFL.
I do think it helped tone up the skin *to some extent*. I say that, b/c I
do still have alot of hanging, stretched out skin. I have seen 2 PS and
they both said that the skin I have remaining is damaged and will never
shrink. I have done all I can do and they were amazed at how little body
fat I have for having been MO. I feel that the concept of the 5 to 6 small
meals a day...focusing on protein and good quality carbs (vegies and whole
grains) is great for those who have had WLS. The exercise portion of the
program is very doable. I highly recommend that you commit yourself to at
least 1 challenge. If you really give it your all, you will be
amazed...and not just with the physical changes.
