Question:
I have been eating like crap!
There is no other way to put it. I can try to rationalize why I've been eating all the junk, but I'm not going to. The fact is I know that what I've been eating is wrong and that's all there is to it. I have spent the last few days eating chocolate, chips and dip, you name it! I am back on track THIS MOMENT, but I just wanted to know if this will effect me in the long run? I have days where I get off track but I'm starting to get worried. Luckily I am still losing regardless but I want to be HEALTHY. If I kick my butt in gear will everything be okay? Thanks! — [Anonymous] (posted on November 25, 2001)

Well.....you MAY be losing now but when all is said and done , sounds like
you will be headed for diaster in the long run if you keep this up. I know
for some people the "head hunger" is hard to ignore. But
girlfriend, if you want to get this weight off, which I believe you do, you
better knock it off. First of all you are eating "empty"
calories. You KNOW what you are doing is wrong. So you better start asking
yourself WHY you had this surgery. It is not a miracle cure......as I'm
sure you know. The first year or so is when you achieve the greatest and
fastest weightloss. You better start taking advantage of it now while you
still can. My suggestion to you is to QUIT BUYING this junk food. If you
don't buy it then it's not there to eat and tempt you. Are there underlying
issues that is
making" you eat these things?? Maybe you need councling or maybe going
to support group meetings would help.YES, if you kick yourself in the butt
and get in gear, things will be ok. Just remember , when you put that JUNK
into your mouth 3 things are going to happen #1-the weightloss will
eventually stop , #2- the weight WILL be gained back, & #3- you WILL
NOT be healthy because with the little amount that we are able to eat,
GOOD nutrition is VERY important.

Holidays are rough, I made some bad food choices myself, but then again
were ALL human.... You might try snacking on protein FIRST when you get
hungry. Then the desire for cookies may go away. Dont beat yourself up over
bad choices, just do better in the future, Drink lots of water, somnetimes
you may feel hungry when your body needs hydration.

I agree with Bob; we're all human. Everyone over indulges a bit
during the holidays....that's part of the fun...all those goodies we
only get during the holidays. You can't do any damage, or even gain any
weight by snacking for a few days. I did my share! But, to
"atone" for my
"sins", I'm back to protein and veggies...no carbs at all....for
a week. I
figure that should get me back on the right path. I'll do the same thing
Christmas week. I "dieted" for 40 years. I had this surgery so
that I could
have a more normal relationship to food.
