Question:
Has anyone had RNY with a BMI under 40 & Barret's Esophagus?

My sister has a BMI in the high 30's and co-morbidities of Barret's Esophagus and high blood pressure. She also has some stress incontenance and family history of heart disease and stroke. Yes, insurance companies will approve the surgery with a BMI of less than 40. If you have a BMI of 35 and co-morbidities, you can be approved. It is going to be a lot harder to get approved. You might have to go through an appeal process. Your sister has the right to live a normal healthly life. I hope that you two fight for it. May God bless your sister =) Take care.
