Question:
Does anybody know what will effectively remove the residue from surgical tape
left on the body? I had an EKG monitor, using 10 round diskette tape, plus tape from the pic put into my jugular vein, plus all the tape left after removing the dressing of the incision. Any helpful hints will be appreciated. — Kay J. (posted on August 15, 2001)

The lab tech told me to use rubbing alcohol and it worked.

When I worked in the hospital as a nurse we used to use acetone, the same
ingredient that is found in many nail polishes. Just make sure the nail
polish contains acetone and you should be ok. The remover that is used for
artifical nail is non-acetone so stay away from that one.

There si this great orange scented stuff available in Vons and several
houseares stores called "Goo-Gone" it takes anything sticky off
anything- even chewing gum out of hair. It is also pleasant to use because
it smells good. Give it a try!

Try Avon's Skin so Soft on a cotton ball -- it's great for lots of things
like this!

If it is what I think it is I found the only way I know of is to use your
thumb and keep rubbing back and forth on it. It will finally roll up into
little balls and you can pick it off. However the other posters have a
better way of doing it than I described. ;) Whatever works for you is
fine.

Kay, Iknow we use a product in the hospital called Unisolve-it comes in
individual packets(like Alcohol).A NICE nurse would have used this to
remove the tape from your PICC line. Maybe you can find some OTC at a
medical supply outlet. If not try a product called Goop,it is also an
adhesive remover. Good Luck Diane

I used a Buff Puff in the shower...the alchohol and baby oil weren't
working for me.
