Question:
Should I be Worried?
I was approved by my surgeon(Dr.LaPort,Fountain Valley,CA) just about a month ago. I had brought in four years worth of diet and medical history from my PCP. I have quite a few co-morbidities that include, asthma, GERD, High triglycerides, Hypthyroidsim, High blood pressure..etc. I called the office the other day and they hadn't heard from the ins. co. at all. I have read other posts that this particular carrier usually approves quickly. Should I be worried yet? I don't know if I should start makeing calls myself, or wait to hear from the Dr's office who have experience in handling these things. It took me two years to finally decide to do this, I would hate for this to happen now. Any suggestions or advice out there? — Carolyn K. (posted on May 26, 2000)

Call the insurance company and make sure they received the paperwork. It
is standard practice for insurance companies to lose the first set of
paperwork you send them. It's hard enough waiting to hear from them
without finding out weeks later that you are waiting for nothing.

I also have Cigna PPO and I was approved in 4 days. I was told it depends
on the medical director reviewing your case. I have my surgery dat eon July
5th.
