Has anyone had a hernia repair and tummy tuck with Blue Cross and Blue SHield

Has anyone had a hernia repair with tummy tuck with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of FLorida PPO (State Employee)insurance? My doctors office said it would take at least 2 months to hear anything. Did anyone have trouble getting them to pay?    — Delora J. (posted on October 28, 2002)

Hello Delora.....first of all, EVERY BC/BS policy out there in the world is different. They all pay for different things and they all have their own time frame for approving or denying claims. I've talked to lots of people, and 2 months *seems* to be about average. If it HAS been 2 months, I'd get on the phone, call BC/BS's 800 number and ask them the status of your request for pre-authorization. They will be able to tell you if it was processed already or is still being investigated. I was approved for the TT and hernia repair through BC/BS of Michigan and it took 8-10 weeks. Good luck!
