Question:
How is the proper way to use the baby wipes?

What I am really trying to ask is I am gonna buy me some baby wipes because I read that a lot of people use them for there backside. Well I want to know can u also use them for your front? This is kinda a silly question, I know, But I didnt want to get some kind of infection or something using them in the front. Any info would be appreciated. Thank You    — Donna O. YES YOU CAN USE BABY WIPES ON THE FRONT ALSO, THEY WERE MADE FOR BABIES AND THEY HAVE NOTHING ON THEM THAT WOULD HURT YOU! I CARE FOR SENIORS WE USE THEM ON THE ELDERLY ALL THE TIME! GO FOR IT! USE TONGS IF YOU CANT REACH THE BACK SIDE!

They are more expensive, but I would recommend you get some sort of roll wipes such as charmin or cottonelle. Northern also makes some that come in a box instead of a roll. The reason is that these are flushable. Regular baby wipes are thicker and are not flushable. Especially if you have a very sensitive septic system like we do. And you really don't want to be throwing used wipes in the regular trash can if you can help it! Also, if you have more than one bathroom you will be using, make sure you keep them in BOTH bathrooms. Another thing that helped me, because I was wiping my bottom so much right after surgery was to keep some zinc oxide (or diaper rash creme) in the bathroom to soothe my bottom.

I buy the cottonelle wipes that are made for that specifically. When in a pinch, I had used the baby wipes (huggies) in the front and became VERY irritated. I will NOT use them again. Why they affected me in that way, I don't know because they are safe for babies there?!?

Definitely get those flushable cottonelle wipes. You won't want soiled wipes sitting in a trash can in the bathroom for any length of time (nobody warned me that bowel odor is 10 times more offensive post-op). Cyndi's idea about the tongs is a good one. I used a back scratcher and it made "clean up" a lot easier. It didn't occur to me that I wouldn't be able to "twist" at the waist easily.

Get the flushable kind. Get the flushable kind. Get the flushable kind. :) After a $200.00 sewer bill - trust me on this one. :) Yes, it's safe to use on both back & front and I only had to get help or use the tongs for the first 9 days - while my drains and stitches were still in - hopefully yours will be quick also. Good luck !
