Question:
Tylenol never seems to work for me, any suggestions?

Tylenol and even Tylenol 3 has never seemed to work for me for pain relief of any kind. Ibuprofin is my best friend. An ache or pain of any kind, pop some ibuprofen and its gone. Any one have suggestions for pain relievers that work as well as ibuprofen but are safe for our new tummies?    — Janine S. (posted on April 11, 2002)

Post-op I've been taking Darvacet N-100s cut in half since I left the hospital as needed for pain... Tylenol 3 helped some, but wasn't quite strong enough and I don't like the side affects of codiene... Good luck to you!

You might want to give tylenol another try. I have found that with our new stomachs that with it attached to the latter portion of the intestines that I gain relief from pain a lot quicker because the meds hit my system a lot faster now than before. Just a suggestion, might give it one more try!

When my Vicodin wasn't working well the Dr. said I could use Ibupropen to suppliment. Once I took that I was finally pain free!!! He didn't see any problem with Ibupropen at all (thank goodness) Tylenol doesn't work for me either!

My Doctor never said anything about taking Ibuprofen - or had he I wasn't listening (not on purpose!) Anyhooo, I have been taking IB's and I have never had an upset stomach over them..... and for me as well, they work soooo much better than Tylenol. I was curious so I just went and scanned my "Nutrition Guidelines for After Your Gastric Bypass" by UCDMC- and there is nothing mentioned of items to avoid, just nutritional guidelines. Still, I should go ask since I keep seeing this come up......

My physician says No NSAIDS (non steroid anti inflammatory drugs) like advil or aspirin due to it causing ulcers frequently!
