Question:
Does anyone else have trouble sticking to routine on weekends?
I'm 3 months post-op today. Down a little over 50 lbs. It's slower than some, but I am thrilled. But here's my biggest problem. During the week, while I'm on a routine with the workday, keeping busy, etc., I can do pretty good on my new diet. I get my water in, the protein too. But when the weekend rolls around (I live by myself), I have to force myself to eat and especially to drink water. I'm so much better at this new lifestyle when I'm on a routine. Has anyone else experienced this? — blank first name B. (posted on February 3, 2002)

I have the same problem. It seems like I fall apart on the weekends. If I
eat -- it is snacking -- definitely not enough protein. I don't drink
enough water and I also want to fall back into emotional eating. I wish I
knew the answer. I am 2-1/2 mo. out and have lost about 47 pounds.

I know exatly what you are going through!! I get up at 3:30 a.m. on
weekdays but weekends I can sleep until noon (I'm a sleeper....I could
sleep my days away and love it!) What I've done is when my husband has to
work weekends, I'll get up when he does and take my vitamins that I need in
the morning and drink 8 oz of water at that time. Then when I wake up
(usually around 9-12), I'll start my water again and then my protein.
Everywhere I go, I usually have my water bottle with me. I even have
started using a large water container in the fridge and measure out what I
need for that day and my goal is to finish the container in a day or at
least I know how much I've gotten in. I, too, am a busy person (too many
things to list -- see my profile) but remember that to continue this weight
loss and reach goal, we must get in our water, protein, and vitamins no
matter what....Good luck.

I do great during the weekdays, but when it comes to weekends, I do change
my habits a bit. I wouldn't say I go crazy, but instead of drinking my
protein, I try to eat meals with lots of protein. That way, I do feel like
I eat more on the weekends, but in reality, I am still getting in what I
need. It isn't really that I go way off my program and cheat, but it does
break up the monotny and makes me handle the week a lot better.

Yep - that's me. I always feel like a huge failure by the time the
weekend's over. Of course, people have told me that I'm way too hard on
myself. But I just lounge around the house, munch on goodies all day &
I'm lax with my protein, vitamins & water requirements. I'm now 8 1/2
months post-op and my weight loss has come to a halt. I haven't lost
anything for 3 months now and I've only lost half of what I need to loose.
I know my laziness is to blame but old habits die hard. The only thing I
can do is to keep on trying. It sure is a struggle. I just restarted
keeping a food diary, drinking more fluids and I've been kicking my butt to
the gym (but only on 4 days of the week). Next I'm going to tackle scaling
my portions back down by eating off a saucer rather than a salad plate and
I must slow down my eating to 1/2 an hour rather than scarfing my food down
in ten minutes as I have been doing. You know, those skinny wls critics out
there who think wls is the "easy" or "lazy" way out
really get me mad! Because they have no idea how hard it is & those
wimps would never be able to handle it. We should all be proud of our
courage and accomplishment, even if we're not always "perfect"
with our diet.
