Question:
Can nausea be related to post nasal drip

Hi folks. I am now 4 days post op, home and feeling very nauseas. I have always had post nasal drip but always just ignored it instead of medicating it. It has always been annoying, but now I'm wondering if it's the mucous running down the back of my troat (although it doesn't seem often) is piling up in my new little 30cc pouch. I feel so sick I can't sleep any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. -Kim    — KimBo36 (posted on July 21, 2001)

WOW that cncerns me too, since I have a forever runny nose. Your surgeon has very good anti nausea medicine so I WOULD CALL HIM IMMEDIATELY, THERES NO REASON FOR YOU TO SUFFER. What your saying makes a lot of sense, cll right now....

I was suffering from nausea right after surgery, and my doctor thought that it could be from post nasal drip. He gave me a prescription for Atrovent. It's a nasal spray you use three times a day. It has really worked well for me.

I thought this only happened to me!! I never had the problem until I had my rny. It certainly did cause me to be nauseous. My surgeon didn't think the post nasal drip was related to the wls (I do!) and prescribed allergy medicacations. That dried me up and I had no problems as long as I took the my medicine. I suffered with the post nasal drip situation for the first two years after my rny...then....it just just went away.
