Question:
Does anyone know personally someone that died after sergury?
I have a friend that died 1 day post-op and a co-worker that is still in critical condition 2 1/2 weeks post-op. I can't believe this is a commom thing. Am I lucky or is God trying to tell me something? I am not trying to freak anyone out but I have to settle this in my mind or I can't go on. Please, someone help! — Dixie E. I too have noticed more on the memorial sight. I'll be having wls at the
end of Oct. Afraid, somewhat but more afraid of having a stroke or a heart
attack before i get the chance on the table. I'm not a religious fanatic
but i do believe and trust in God and it's all in the plan of my life. hang
tight and God speed janis the va. girl

Fear of death seems pretty natural before any major surgery. You've just
got to keep this fear in perspective. This surgery is no more dangerous
than any other major surgery. Prior to my surgery, I had constant panic
attacks. I would jump out of bed in the middle of the night in a cold
sweat. I was always positive that my obesity was going to kill me. I was
sure that any chest pain was a heart attack coming on. I felt myself
becoming a prisoner of my own fears. For whatever reason, when I decided
to have surgery, I stopped being afraid. Since my surgery May 1, I haven't
had a panic attack. I no longer worry about death. I think about living.
I think your fears are perfectly legitimate, but don't let them prevent you
from making a life-saving decision. Good luck!
