Does anyone know personally someone that died after sergury?

I have a friend that died 1 day post-op and a co-worker that is still in critical condition 2 1/2 weeks post-op. I can't believe this is a commom thing. Am I lucky or is God trying to tell me something? I am not trying to freak anyone out but I have to settle this in my mind or I can't go on. Please, someone help!
