Question:
When is someone eligible for a revision?
Hello. I am almost 3 yrs post op. I had started at 382 lbs, and got down to 197. Surgeon said I could have gotten down to 160. Well...I am up to 223 lbs, and extemely scared. I am always hungry, and can eat just about anything. Would I be a canadite for a revision at this point? Thank you in advance for your input. — Shavonne P. (posted on May 16, 2005)

I think that before you start thinking about a revision you need to find
out what's wrong. Did the surgery fail or are you not following the rules.
Make an appointment with your surgeon to see about getting some tests done
to find out if there is something mechanically wrong. You may also want to
meet with a nutritionist to evaluate what and how much you are eating. I
wouldn't consider a revision until you have completed those two things.
Good luck. Rebecca

It's time to join the Grad list. No guarantee that you'll get the rest of
the wt off, but there's also the trick of maintaining the loss you have
achieved. There is a lot of combined long term experience on this list and
I'd recommend it in conjunction with this site and any local lists you
use.

Dear Shavonne,
Just scrolled through your profile andf, at a glance, my impression is that
you would be better served working on the behaviors and emotions causing
you to sabotage your longterm recovery before you look for another surgical
fix.
The anxiety you're experiencing is a blessing if it prompts you to face the
emotional hunger and lack of adequate exercise.
You have already demonstrated your courage and ability to lose weight, so
that's not in doubt!
This Fri. night, at the OBESITY HELP.COM EAST COAST NATIONAL CONF. (thru
Sun. - go to www.obesityhelpevents.com) I'll be on the PANEL discussing the
POST-OP experience.
I'll also be giving a FREE class on my Embody Success! (c) coaching method,
designed to replace self-sabotage with success, Sat. at 3pm.
I'll also be giving FREE consultations throughout the weekend & a talk
Sat. morning at 9:30am.
It's not too late to turn yourself around!
Lovingly,
Lauralyn
