Question:
has anyone got an approval after finishing the supervised dieting requirement?
I got denied 4 times last year due to my not having 1 year suppervised dieting with my doc. Well, next week my one year will be up and i get to try all over again! I'm very nervous about it because i dont want to be denied again! And i've gained another 20lbs on my "dieting". I dont know if this will work for or against me.It's too hard to get motivated to diet anyway, let alone when the ins. comp. tells you that you have to!! Anyway has anyone else had an experience like this? And if so, is there any advice you could give me to get through this and get an approval?!?! — [Deactivated Member] (posted on October 13, 2003)

I cannot answer this 100% guaranteed, but from all the reading I've done in
posts etc. it seems that almost everyone does get their approval after
fulfilling this requirement, assuming you qualified in the first place. I
hope everything goes quickly and smoothly and you are off to surgery soon!
Hang in there!

I was actually approved the same week that I finished my supervised diet! I
too had gained weight while on my "diet" but didn't affect my
approval. Now I am just 40 days away from surgery! Good luck to you on your
approval request!

I have Cigna HMO and was denied twice because of not having
"proof" of supervised diet(they wanted WEEKLY weigh- ins). Days
after I finished Weight Watchers I was approved. Good luck to you.

My best friend was recently approved 2 weeks after completing her 6 month
supervised diet. She actually gained 5 pounds though on a high carb,
low-fat diet....diabetic. Hmmmm

I had to go thru additional weight monitoring as well. Then re-submitted
after I completed it and was approved. You can read more details at my
profile if you'd like. Good luck to you!

Well, not EVERYONE gets approved, even AFTER jumping thr all their glorious
HOOPS..
I was denied in July, for not having completed my 26 weeks (no shock) so
per my denial letter, "decission to deny is upheld pending completion
of your 26 week professionally supervised diet". So, I completed it
my diet/weigh in's and (no other things holding me back) resubmitted on
Sept 17th, and was denied on Sept. 30th. AND, it gets better, they refuse
to send me my latest denial letter! (they seem to think July is my latest
denial, but it most certainly was not!!) All I can say is GOOD LUCK, and I
pray to GOD, you don't have CIGNA.
(waiting for approval/denial from Hayes Plus, the extternal review board,
by Mon., 10/20) If you need further proof to my horror stories, take a
look at my profile from September on. It has been FAR from being an
enjoyable time. GOOD LUCK! ~Michelle
