Question:
Has anyone had to go through with getting 1yr.suppervised dieting?

Hello. I have appealed 3 times to my ins. company with no luck. They INCIST that i get 1yr med suppervised dieting. So i'll have to try and get approved next october. Has anyone ever been told this? If so, what kind of dieting did you try. I'm afraid that my one year of dieting wont be the kind of dieting they want and deny me again. I'm trying to cut back on calories, drink more water, do moderate exersising, and i check in with my Dr. office once a month! Does it sound like this will be enough? Please help!    — [Deactivated Member] (posted on January 31, 2003)

I would find out EXACTLY what they want, and have them spell it all out in a letter to you. That way, it would be hard for them to back out of it, yanno?

Yes, supervised diets were a requirement. I had several, both medically supervised and just supervised: Family doctor supervised, Hospital diet program, 2 years with a weight loss specialist-internal medicine, and non medical such as Nutrisystems, Weight watchers.

Most of us by the time we get to this point have had many, many diet attemps both supervised and unsupervised. Think real hard about your history. There may be something you can count already. Good luck!!!

Yes most insurance companies require a 1 year medically supervised diet. Going to your family doctor that has you on a special diet (Heart Diet, Diabetic Diet, whatever) is what they are looking for.
