Question:
Has anyone got an approval after 2nd appeal letter?
My ins. comp. has denied me twice for not having 1 yr medically supervised dieting. I'm appealing (with my attorny sending the final appeal letter), but this time the appeal is sent to someone who isnt affiliated with my insurance company. If it doesnt work this time then i'll have to go through the 1yr of dieting. Has anyone done an appeal this way? Did anyone get it approved? Hi April,
I was denied twice too and was really worried until I remembered a
cardiologist that I had seen earlier in 2001 year. My insurance
(Aetna)required that I have had six months of medically supervised weight
loss and that it must be within two years of the request for WLS. Well,
this doctor was not actually supervising my weight but she did record it
each time I went to see her during the six months that I did (and I was
attending Weight Watchers). I contacted her and she sent me the
information. I just want to say that my insurance company required the
MEDICAL NOTES but be careful to give them only the notes that are
beneficial to your surgery (I just don't believe in giving the insurance
company more than they need to know-feel me?) If you have been to a doctor
and you even talked about weight loss and they documented your weight each
time you came, that just might do it. Hope this helps.
