Question:
EMBARASSING!!! Should I call my doctor???
This is kind of embarassing, but I need to know if I should be concerned. I have had severe diarreah for the last FOUR days!!! Since surgery, I've never been one of those who have had everything I eat go right through me. But since Sunday, I've gone to the bathroom an average of 8 times a day and it's ALL SHOOTS (if you know what I mean). I like it in the sense that I've lost almost 10 pounds in these 4 days, but I'm not sure if it's the healthiest way to lose. Should I call my doctor? Should I be concerned??? — Robby E. the previous poster is correct. You do need to call your doc to make sure
that you do not get dehydrated. The diarrhea may have nothing to do with
the surgery (you may have a little bug), but it is not a bad idea to run it
buy your doc anyway. Hope you feel better!!

My Mom had to have that test where they put you out, then put an instrament
up your butt to check on the colin. Right after that she had SEVERE diarea
for six weeks. Finally after suffering she went to the docs. She needed
antibiotics. She got a BUG from the instrament they used to do the test.
(So much for hospital cleanliness). I suspect you got a bug from something
and will need antibiotics. DON'T WAIT!

You didn't mention how far out from surgery you are. I had similar BM's
for the first few weeks post-op, and my surgeon assured me it was normal,
but to absolutely, positively get at least 2 liters of water in a day, IF
NOT MORE. He also cautioned me that if I ever felt faint or queasy, or
anything but the typical diarrhea symptoms, to call him right away. Please
call your doctor as soon as possible, and definitely keep your water going
so you don't get dehydrated! Good luck!
