Question:
Surgeon won't do a Panni or Abdominalplasty with Hernia Repair
My surgeon won't perform both at the same time....his reasoning is that my hernia is large, and will require mesh during the repair....he said doing both surgeries could create problems...such as more infections, etc. Has anyone had a panni or abdominalplasty alone, with insurance covering....I have not experienced any rashes, but have a heck of a time with lower back aches...especially when I sleep....constantly having to shift because of the stomach pulling and applying pressure....I just want some reassurance that I could still possibly get my tummy done at a later date!! Thanx for any response/encouragement!! — chance2lv (posted on February 6, 2002)

I had my panniculectomy and my hernia repaired during the same operation.
My rny surgeon repaired the hernia and then the plastic surgeon did the
panniculectomy and beltplasty. My ins. paid for every time because they
billed it as reconstructive after the rny. I had absolutely no problems
having both surgeries at once.

I had small hernias repaired with my TT. But my docs do not use mesh.
