Question:
Why does it always hurt under my left breast toward incision?
I looked this up but I wonder if anyone can elaborate.Does it go away?It feels "too tight" somehow.I thought it was because I was too full, but I also feel it first thing in the morning before I've eaten, as well as throughout the day.Especially if I stand up straight. — [Anonymous] (posted on February 2, 2002)

Probably because they cut through a muscle during the surgery. I had the
same pain and after about a month it went away.

I too had the pain on the left side my surgeon told me that is where the
tools go in for the lap, because they inflate your abdomen during surgery
the incison isn't that high but after the release the air then the incision
is close to one of the ribs and it rubs on that after about 4-5 weeks I
woke up one morning and it was gone and hasn't returned but while it was
hurting it was a bugger.

I had open RNY almost 5 weeks ago. I had similar pain that went away about
a week ago--my doc said he was caused from him "ripping my insides
apart during surgery"...nothing like a surgeon with a sense of
humor...

My doctor told me to expect pain in that area because that is where they
had to cut through the muscle. Perfectly normal!
