Question:
I wanted to hear from post-ops who feel/felt they could eat a lot early on.
I worry I can eat too much. I am only 3 months post op and can eat "average" size portions of food (3 oz. meat, small potatoe with lowfat topping, and 1/3 cup veggies)and still feel hungry an hour or so later at which point I eat again. I'm transected so I doubt it's a stapleline breakdown, and reconnection of the stomach. I don't dump, I don't drink with my meals, I take my vities religiously, I eat protein first...don't suppliment protein because my surgeon told me after 8 weeks I don't need to. I don't have an exercise regime at this point, but am so much more active than I have been in years, take the stairs, shop til I drop, etc. I weigh myself once a week, and have had a couple of weeks where I actually gained a pound or two. Has anyone else been in my boat and thought they wouldn't loose weight, but actually went on to be successful? How did you manage food? I already feel like I have to use will power to keep my volumn down. I don't really crave anything, like I used to...I'm just hungry all the time. I am down 45 lbs...I was down 46 until this morning :( Thanks for any input. -Kim — KimBo36 (posted on October 11, 2001)

It sounds to me like you're doing great! You didn't mention if you were
drinking while you're eating, if so, that may be pushing the food through
your pouch. But your weight loss seems right on target. My MD says we're
shooting for 8-10 lbs a month and yours is more than that.
COngratulations!
