Question:
I'm having burning under ribs on left. New surgeon is asking for an endoscopy to SLD

Is there anything wlse that could cause the burning? It's so bad it wakes my up at night and gets really bad in the middle of the afternoon. It's alot like acid reflux without going up into my throat. I'm worried about weight gain as well though I really think I've gained because of lack of exercise and stress. I've move out state from my original surgeon and have been referred to Dr. Jawad in Ocala, FL. I saw him last week. He's thinking ulcer or SLD.    — Teri D. (posted on February 23, 2004)

I had a very tough experience early on with this type painful burning sensation. Couldn't imagine that it was reflux but my doctor said he thought it was and told me to take a pepcid AC everyday for the first year. I've been taking one per day since then and it has not ocurred again. I'd ask the doctor just to be safe. I didn't think it was reflux since it was different than pre-op.

my burning sharp pain under my left rib cage was a big nasty ulcer on my small bowel. EGD found it.

Original Poster here...I take Prevacid daily and have since surgery. I'm almost 3years post-op. Getting really scared.
