I'm having burning under ribs on left. New surgeon is asking for an endoscopy to SLD

Is there anything wlse that could cause the burning? It's so bad it wakes my up at night and gets really bad in the middle of the afternoon. It's alot like acid reflux without going up into my throat. I'm worried about weight gain as well though I really think I've gained because of lack of exercise and stress. I've move out state from my original surgeon and have been referred to Dr. Jawad in Ocala, FL. I saw him last week. He's thinking ulcer or SLD.
