Question:
Personal Choice paid for my surgery, but won't pay for my consultation
I am 3 1/2 months post op- the insurance co. paid for everything... Now what?? Anyone else ever have this happen to them? What should I do? The consult was $300.00, and the surgeons office is looking to me for payment. Should I just pay it, or try to fight with the insurance co to cover it. — Andrea M. (posted on August 13, 2001)

What kind of policy do you have.. and HMO or
indemnity etc? Did you need a referal and if so did you have one etc?
What was the reason for the denial? Email if you want and I can help you
with whatever I can. Good luck.<font

I work for a company by the same name. They do flexible-spending cafeteria
plans. Is this the same company? We would not deny this type of service
if it is medicall necessary. There must be two different companies out
there with the same name.

I had cigna ppo plan and the same thing happened to me. i kept calling my
insurance and appealing it and after about 5 months they finally approved
the visit when I had my doctor refax them a letter of medical
neccesity.(Out of $280.00 Cigna paid $220.00.) So that was better then
nothing but be persistent.
