Boy, I can sympathise with your hubby. I am also suffering with active RA, diagnosed about 8 years ago, and because of liver problems, can only take "wimpy" drugs that basically have my arthritis at a standstill. In addition, I have developed severe osteoarthritis in one of my knees, makeing walking almost unbearable. The RA will not be cured by WLS, and you need to remember that. However, I'm sure that the severity of stress on our afflicted joints will be much less, and that has to be a good thing (go away pain). I'll probably have to take RA meds forever, but we can probably bypass a double knee replacement because of WLS. I'm still pre-op (scheduled for November 2001), but I have the blessings of both my Rheumatologist and my PCP. Good luck and keep your chin up--
