Question:
What is this empty, uncomfortable feeling in stomach?
For the past week I have had this discomfort in the middle of my abdomen. It is not a sharp pain, but it is constant. It starts as an empty feeling like I'm hungry (eating does relieve it, but only for about 20 mins) then it seems to expand and is more uncomfortable till it seems like it will be sharp and then dies down.(this increase and decrease only takes about a minute, but it happens again every 10 mins or so and the empty feeling lasts all day.) I'm eating small amounts of soup broth about every 2 hours and I sip water or crystal lite all day. I am 4 weeks post op and on a pureed diet. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Will this ever go away?? Thank you so much!! — Kat O. (posted on July 20, 2001)

I took liquid Mylanta to help with the acid feeling before eating. I don't
know if this is the same feeling you are experiencing I just know it helped
me. I also used sf popsicles to help calm my rumbling tummy at first too.

I too had this problem which is getting better. For the first 11 days it
was horrible. I finally was told to try Pepcid AC which I did and it
relieved most of it by the next day. After that I was able to eat a little
bit better. I still occasionally get that feeling but it is usally
something that I had that did not sit too good...I am now 1 month post op
and today was a really good day.
