Question:
Has anyone tried to get copy or their Psych Evaluation, and been refused???

Hi,Im wanting to hear form anyone that has tried to get a copy of their Psych Evaluation and been refused!!I paid 400.00 for the evaluation, went to the person the surgeon had arrangments with.I have filled out the paper work 4 times and requested the report. Both offices refuse to give me a copy:(Also I have requested they send it to my PCP.They have not done this either. It has been 3 months.I have gotten nothing but the run around from both offices. From what I have found out on the net,I have the leagal right to the records unless there is something harmful for me to see.(If there is they have not told me so they are not to conserned)If anyone out there knows Oregon Law and rights to psych eval report, and can tell me what to do next i would welcome the help.I have filled out the Medical Request 4x!(I will be having WLS with a diffrent surgeon)Im planning to write a letter send another request to each office and send them certified mail.I love this site, thanx in advance for all the help you all give!    — Wendy M. The only office that legally has to release that report to you is the psych. office. No other office can release the psych. office record, this is especially true of psych. and they are usually stamped stating "do not release to any other parties". You might ask if there is any problem preventing them from releasing the record to you. Also check you state laws to see if they are required to respond to your request within a certain period of time. In VA we have 15 business days to comply with record requests.

Hi! I had the same problem with my psyh office in California. It took 6 weeks of screaming and 4 record releases to get them to get the eval to my surgeon...and finally after I notified the Dept of Corporations and the threat of the Calif Med Board. they overnighted it to my surgeon. I was so PISSED off at them that I posted for anyone in So Calif to AVOID that office. Believe it or not I had over 85 e mails thanking me for the advice of not going to them. These were all pre-ops within 50 miles of me. So my sweet REVENGE ON THEM was my big mouth about their AWFUL SERVICE......I did get my revenge didn't I.

I've had this same problem... It's a good thing for me though that I have a good repore with ym family phsycian.. He gave it to me after I had to call the psych's office for three months to get it over there... I was even denied surgery by my insurance because they never sent it to them... Talk about upset! Good luck to you!
